Soda bread

Soda bread

First, get the equipment ready.

Next, get the ingredients.

Add the lemon juice to the milk to make it curdle.

Next, sieve both flours, and the Bicarbonate of soda, into the bowl.  Tip in the bran (which is from the wholemeal flour).

Add most of the milk and mix everything together quickly to form a soft dough.

Place the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly for a few moments to form a round, flattened ball.

Place the dough onto a floured baking tray.

Score a cross on top of the dough.

Wearing oven gloves, place the tray into the hot oven.

Bake for 30 minutes.

Wearing oven gloves, remove the bread from the oven, and allow to cool.
